Alter Südfriedhof is a cemetery that we have walked past before. We didn't have enough time to wander through all of it though, so we didn't see much and vowed to visit again. Last weekend, the weekend of seeing everything before we leave Munich, was a time when we could actually have a good look.
The cemetery is no longer used for its original purpose - a place of burial for those who met their untimely death by the Black Plague. People aren't buried here any more, they've run out of space. It is now a lovely park where you can sit and ponder life. There are many family plots, and many beautiful headstones. Oh and a few cheeky squirrels!
